How long did it take?

Read with an adult. You can say, point, draw or write your answer.

1 · Learn

An hour has 60 minutes. A day has 24 hours. To compare activities, use the same time unit.

From 3:00 to 3:20 is 20 minutes. From 3:20 to 3:30 is another 10 minutes. Together they make half an hour.

60 minutes = 1 hour24 hours = 1 day
Key words and supplied examples.

2 · Worked example

A game lasts 15 minutes and a puzzle lasts 10 minutes. The game lasts five minutes longer.

3 · Your turn

Reading starts at 4:10 and finishes at 4:30. How long does it last?

Check your answer

20 minutes.

4 · Apply your learning

Use an adult's clock or timer to compare two short activities. Record the starting and finishing times.

Adult guidance and safety

Use practical objects before symbols. Read the task aloud when needed and ask the child to explain, not just name an answer. Revisit with different examples; one successful answer is not proof of fluency.

Your pad is empty.

Open a UTF-8 TXT file from this device, up to 40 KB and 10,000 characters. It stays in this browser. Opening can be undone until you type again. Downloads keep a new copy; they do not change the file you opened.
