Read before answering

Original passage, 'Radio dial': The radio repair bench still carried his father's handwriting on the drawers. Jo brought the set they had argued about selling. He placed it down, keeping both hands on its case. The technician asked what was wrong. Jo turned the dial through a burst of static. For one second a voice emerged. He asked whether the set could be repaired. Draft: 'All reconciled. Imagery is effective.'
