Read before answering

Original opening, 'The empty chair': All morning I had guarded the only chair near the heater. Outside, rain tapped against the windows; inside, coats dripped onto the floor. A younger pupil arrived without a coat. I looked at my bag on the seat. I picked it up. The pupil sat down, and I stood close enough to the heater to warm one hand. Atmosphere is built from selected sensory details and their context. A sound can seem different to different readers; explain your reading with the text rather than naming a mood without evidence.
