Read with an adult. Take your time. You can say, point, draw or write your answer.
1 Let's look together
Listen to cube. The u and the final e work together. Many speakers say a yoo sound here.
Now listen to flute. It has u and a final e too, but its vowel sounds like oo in food. Your adult will say both words so you can hear them.
cube — muleflute — ruleu and final e work together
Look, point and talk with your adult.
2 Watch how I do it
My adult reads cube and flute. I point to u and the final e in each. I repeat the whole words and notice the different sounds in this model.
3 Your turn
Which letters work together in rule? Read it after your adult.

Adult notes · prerequisites, safety and coverage
U–e can represent /ju:/ and /u:/. Model whole words and respect accent differences, particularly tube/tune. Do not force a single accent or ask learners to count phonemes in yoo without explicit modelling. The worksheet examples include both pronunciations.
Read instructions aloud. Word-reading practice must match the child's taught sounds. The phonics pages support, but do not replace, the school's systematic synthetic phonics programme. Shared stories are adult-read unless the child can decode them. Re-read and practise daily.
Connect taught sounds and spellings for decoding.
Blend and reread words matched to taught sound-spelling knowledge.
